30 Malaysians Receive Educational Assistance From Toyo

Toyo Tyre Malaysia Sdn Bhd presented educational assistance to 30 successful recipients under its inaugural Student Education Assistance and Undergraduate Scholarship Programs for 2014 in a ceremony held at its factory in Kamunting Raya, Taiping.

The Student Education Assistance Program is offered to Malaysians studying in 5 primary schools while the Undergraduate Scholarship Program is offered to students in 4 secondary schools -- all located near the Toyo factory in Kamunting Raya, Taiping . The Undergraduate Scholarship are for those seeking entry into Government-recognised colleges or universities to pursue bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemical, polymer science, mechanical, electrical, mechatronics as well as in finance & accounting.

Successful students of the Student Education Assistance Program will each receive RM2,400 per year and Undergraduate Scholarship Program will each receive RM10,000 per year as pocket money, tuition fees and text books. The successful students are selected based on several criteria including financial needs, academic excellence, leadership qualities and active in co-curriculum.

In presenting the Student Education Assistance and Undergraduate Scholarship awards to successful recipients, Mr Kanji Kasai, managing director, Toyo Tyre Malaysia Sdn Bhd said “Toyo Tires have long committed to helping outstanding community students to complete their studies in schools and colleges & universities worldwide” . It is therefore, logical for Toyo Tyre Malaysia to offer such financial assistance to deserving and needy students in the field of education in the local community in which we operate as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility Program.

We will to strive to become a good corporate and responsible citizen by offering financial aids from time to time , in furthering educational advancement to meet the needs of the local community in and around Taiping.“

The Toyo tyre factory sited on a 148 acre site in Kamunting Raya in Taiping manufactures passenger car and light truck tyres. The Company employs about 500 staff .
